Summer Stage Combat will physically and mentally challenge an aspiring actor, dancer, director, stage manager, teacher or choreographer, safely introducing him or her to an exciting and explosive aspect of the actor's craft - theatrical violence.
Summer Stage Combat is one of only three stage combat training programs in the United States granted National Workshop status by the Society of American Fight Directors (SAFD) - and the only such program offering high school and college credit.
The Summer Stage Combat Program includes courses for high school and college students, as well as adults with an interest in stage combat. Adult students can choose between an introduction to all eight disciplines sanctioned by the SAFD, and a course that focuses on three disciplines and an opportunity to test for Actor Combatant recognition with the SAFD.
To address the needs of a variety of students, Summer Stage Combat is comprised of two different programs (listed below):
Introduction to Stage Combat Actor-Combatant Skills Proficiency Schedule: July 6-25, 2008 July 6-25, 2008 Enrollment: Adults 18 and over

High school students who are at least 15 and have completed 9th gradeLimited to adults 18 and over Credits: High school or College credit available to all attending students College credit available to all attending students Training: Includes introductory skills in all eight disciplines sanctioned by the SAFD Offers more intensive focus on three disciplines sanctioned by the SAFD Recognition: No basic testing will be offered, but hours count towards further SAFD training. Students who have already achieved basic SAFD proficiency in certain disciplines may retest in those disciplines. Attending students may test for Actor Combatant recognition with the SAFD
